Stop Using The Phrase "21st Century Learning"

OK. This one drives me crazy. We are fourteen years into the 21st century. Why do we tout that our schools utilize 21st century learning tools? Shouldn't we all be using current research-based learning and teaching methods? When I read action plans and goals for school and district stating that they will begin to use 21st century tools, I automatically picture students using chalkboards, IBMs and abacuses. It should be a given that our students are using the latest and best instructional tools to support their learning. What we should be stating is that we are looking ahead to the 22nd century.
